An Inspiring Careers Week
We had a wonderful, inspiring careers week in school last week with activities and information which we hope will help all our students plan for their future careers when they leave Denbigh.
Lessons and tutorials throughout the week had a focus on careers and there were employer talks from our own careers’ advisor, a games designer and a driving instructor. Our Denbigh Alumni students also contributed with talks about life at university and the career paths they have followed since leaving Denbigh. There were presentations for students on the importance of learning a language, the difference between public and private sector work and leadership skills.
Highlights of the week included The Royal Navy leading an assembly and team-building workshop for Year 11 students giving them a valuable insight into life in the Navy and our Apprenticeships Fayre, which we hosted with ASK Apprenticeships for Year 10 to Year 13 students. The high-profile organisations who attended the Fayre to give students more information about the growing Apprenticeship market included Grant Thornton, VW, The Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office, The Parks Trust, Niftylift, MK Council and the Army and Navy. ASK Apprenticeships also held a workshop for Year 13 students about recognising their strengths and developing interview skills.
It was an exciting, informative and inspiring week at Denbigh for everyone involved.
