Loftman Shield 2022 Winner is Announced
Our prestigious School Community Award, The Loftman Shield was awarded to Lucy Dunkerley by special guest, Godwin Sosi at our recent Celebration of Success Ceremony. The Shield, which was donated to the School by the Loftman Family whose five children all attended Denbigh, is awarded to a student who has participated in and benefitted from the huge range of extra-curricular activities the school offers.
In her time at Denbigh, Lucy, who has just completed Year 13, excelled in a huge range of extra-curricular activities. She was a very talented Creative Arts student and was a leading cast member of many school productions and events over the years. Her talent and commitment was recognised at our recent ‘Creative Arts Awards Ceremony’ where she received a ‘Lifetime Achievement in the Creative Arts. One of her stand out performances came when she won the Denbigh Talent Show with an amazing performance of Slam Poetry. In addition to her contribution to the Creative Arts, Lucy was also a key member of the Sixth Form Committee, playing a leading role in getting the Sixth Form Instagram account up and running. She also edited the Sixth Form Newsletter. Lucy was always helpful and supportive to her peers; she was approachable and would always listen and help in any way she could. Her place in Denbigh folklore was assured by her performance of her original song, dedicated to the students and her time at Denbigh at the Year 13 Leavers’ Assembly in May. It was a thoughtful and emotional tribute to Denbigh life, which Lucy herself has made such a huge contribution to.
