New House Champions make a positive start
Our newly appointed House Champions have made a very positive start in their new roles this year. Each of our five houses – Brunel, Curie, Darwin, Newton and Stephenson now have a member of staff appointed to be their House Champion. They work closely with our student House Presidents and Vice Presidents to develop the role and profile of their Houses within the School Community.
It has been a busy first half term with elections taking place for the House Councils. Students seeking election were asked to write a manifesto which were considered by the House Champions and House President teams. The Councils are now all up and running with a plan for the year. They have chosen House charities who will benefit from our students’ fundraising efforts during the charity days held throughout the year.
The first student inter-house competition has taken place with a popular and keenly contested Spelling Bee won by Stephenson. Another new initiative this year has been that staff are now members of a House and have their own inter-house competitions, the first of which was a tug-of-war competition won by Newton and the second is going to be a Quiz.
