Faculty Introduction

Expertise in a foreign language can be a valuable skill for the 21st Century. By providing students with the opportunity to perfect an additional language, we are helping to ensure that the UK remains globally competitive in the current and ever-changing landscape. Competent foreign language skills are also valued by both employers and universities.

At Denbigh School we offer A-level and AS-level teaching in French, Spanish and German and we are also able to offer Italian, Spanish and Turkish as options as part of the Sixth Form Enrichment Programme.

All our subjects follow an AQA A-Level specification.

Enrichment

The Languages Faculty has run exchanges with schools and students in France and Germany as we have excellent links with schools in Caen and Schwerte. At A-Level the Faculty has run a Work Experience programme for A-Level French and German students. Over the years this has been very successful enabling students to acquire work skills as well as being fully immersed in the language they are studying.

Schemes of Learning

Each faculty has developed a two-year Scheme of Learning for each subject. The Schemes of Learning outline the curriculum journey that students will embark on during each academic year.
