JJ Effect calls for Empathy Over Violence

Byron Highton, founder of The JJ Effect, a prominent anti-knife crime charity visited the school to lead assemblies for Year 9 and 11 students about the dangers of carrying weapons.  Byron came into school last year as part of our enrichment day programme so we knew that he would deliver a powerful presentation that would have an impact on our students. 

Byron established The JJ Effect after the tragic murder of his brother Jon-Jo in 2014 and is passionate about educating young people on the threats of knife crime, county lines, grooming and criminal exploitation.  His charity has been featured on many media outlets including ITV and the BBC.

Hearing Byron speak from personal experience made a huge impact on our students as he urged them to choose empathy over violence, consider the consequences of their choices and contribute positively to their futures and the community at large.
