Enrichment Day Offers Opportunity for All

Our Spring Term Enrichment Day provided opportunity for all.  Students in Years 7 to 10 came off timetable to learn about aspects of life and community beyond the traditional curriculum and Year 11 and Year 13 students took part in focused preparation sessions for their forthcoming GCSEs and A Levels.

Six exciting trips went out with visits to Warwick Castle, Woburn Safari Park, Bletchley Park, Kempston Outdoor Centre, Kew Gardens and the Science Museum.

There were also a range of in-school experiences on offer.  Year 7 students tested their entrepreneurial skills in the Junior Apprentice Challenge.  Year 10 students focused on life skills and Year 9 students spent the day discussing careers.  Year 8 students took part in sessions aimed at increasing their awareness of the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Our Year 11 students had a ‘power day’ when they could focus on one particular subject in greater depth in preparation for their GCSEs and Year 13 students took part in a bespoke revision workshop focusing on self-care, self-belief and discipline, in preparation for their A Levels.

Mr Burgess, Associate Assistant Headteacher who organised the day said: ‘Enrichment days are a really positive experience for both students and staff.  It is always a pleasure to see how well our students engage with all the activities on offer.  We are grateful to our staff who go the extra mile to facilitate these experiences for our students.  We are already looking forward to the final enrichment day which will take place in July.’
