Final Enrichment Day of the Year is a Success
The last of our three Enrichment Days this year was a huge success with students having fantastic new experiences both in and out of school. Students from Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 came off timetable to explore and learn about aspects of life and community beyond the traditional curriculum and in the case of Year 12 to plan for their future after Denbigh.
We had six exciting trips that went out to Warwick Castle, Woburn Safari Park, Bletchley Park, Kew Gardens, Bournemouth and the Duxford Air Museum.
There were also a range of in-school experiences on offer. Year 9 students took part in an Gangs and Knife Crime Prevention Event and Year 8 students participated in sessions aimed at increasing their awareness of the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Year 12 students had a Post 18 Futures Day with former Denbigh students coming back into school to talk about their career paths since leaving the Denbigh Sixth Form.
Mr Burgess, Associate Assistant Headteacher who leads the Enrichment Day Programme said: ‘Introducing a new enrichment day programme this year has proved very successful with students engaging well with the opportunities and experiences we have offered, both in school and out of school. Coming off timetable for three days over the year has allowed students to look beyond the curriculum, learn new life skills, plan for their future and experience local and national visitor attractions. We already planning for next year’s enrichment programme!’.
