Newton House Wins Sports Week
We had a fantastic Sports Week recently with hundreds of students competing and representing their House with great pride. During the week each year group had a morning of team events where they competed in Benchball, Football, Rounders, Handball and Table Tennis. Then on Friday, the whole school came together, braving the wet weather for the Athletics events, either competing or supporting students representing their House.
Overall, the results for Sports Week were:
Position | House | Points won |
1st | Newton | 284 |
2nd | Brunel | 262 |
3rd | Curie | 257 |
4th | Stephenson | 254 |
5th | Darwin | 245 |
Matt Linbourne, Head of PE said: ‘We had a fantastic week of sporting competition with excellent participation rates from students who were keen to compete and earn points for their Houses. We had to brave the weather at the Athletics events on Friday, but the rain did not dim the enthusiasm of the competitors or those watching and supporting. It was a special week for the PE Faculty with our Sports Awards Ceremony also taking place on Wednesday with 80 students receiving awards on the night. Thank you to all the students and staff involved who helped make Sports Week such a success.’
