Year 12 Students Research Urban Trees with the Open University
Year 12 Biology and Geography students have been taking part in the TreeLab Project, an exciting enrichment opportunity which has given them the chance to work with professional researchers at the Open University on a sixth month research study into the properties of urban trees in Milton Keynes.
Urban trees are critical elements to the green infrastructure of our towns and cities, and their management is key to supporting sustainable, healthy built environments. Despite a long history of research into natural forest ecology, research on urban forests, their benefits and management has been limited. Researchers from the OU aim to put this right in partnership with our students. It is hoped that at the end of the TreeLab Project, they will be able to present a proposal to pursue this important research even further.
