Unlocking the Secret World of Monster Black Holes

Victoria Fawcett, a Ph.D. Astronomy student and STEM Ambassador from the University of Durham unlocked the secret world of Monster Black holes in the third talk of our 2022 STEM Lecture Programme.

Victoria is an observational astronomer studying the properties of quasars (very large black holes) and whether they are a link in galaxy evolution. Her fascinating talk was the third in the series of seven on-line lectures planned for 2022, led by top academics and STEM ambassadors from across the country. Following the success of last year’s first ever on-line programme we are using this format again for 2022. This allows us to keep people safe and to reach even more people than we did previously with the in-person lectures.

Everyone can watch the video link at a time that suits them. You can access the video link of Victoria’s lecture on the School’s website and by scanning the QR code.

The next talk in the 2022 Programme will be by Beth Seaborn, STEM Ambassador from Manchester University who will focus on ‘stroke rehabilitation. This will be available to view from 2nd February.
