Year 10 students sample the world of work
Year 10 students took part in a fantastic work experience programme this month giving them a valuable insight into the world of work. 223 students found physical placements (86% of the year group) with the remainder working from home completing virtual work experience.
Our students did not limit themselves to Milton Keynes with some travelling to London, Northampton, Peterborough and Morcambe. The high-profile companies our students worked for included Network Rail, Niftylift, Suzuki, Taylor Wimpey, DHL and City of London Police. Students also worked for charities including MIND, Willen Hospice and Ride High. The range of placements they were able to secure was so impressive and included schools, hospitals, pharmacies, sports centres, IT companies, opticians, shops, restaurants and hair and beauty salons.
Andrea Frame, Headteacher said: ‘We are very grateful to all the organisations that offered our students an opportunity to experience a work environment for the week, and then took the time to feedback to us about how they got on. I am very proud of our students as the feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive. I am also extremely grateful to our in-school Careers Team who work tirelessly to ensure that our work experience programme is meaningful for students. Without them none of this would have been possible.’
