Denbigh Sixth Form has a fully embedded careers programme. There is a Careers Advisor available to offer one-to-one support and a Careers Assistant who can help with administration and other arrangements.
Throughout the academic year talks are regularly given by employers and apprenticeship providers in school and online and we have organised visits to the local Careers Fayres. Denbigh Sixth Form has a strong relationship with NiftyLift, with students interested in a career in Engineering participating in the EES Scheme each year with considerable success over the years.
We fully support students with their applications to apprenticeships and employment, through writing references, helping with CVs and letters of application and also with time to attend interviews and training events.
Work Experience
It is expected that every Post 16 student across the country undertakes some form of workplace experience. We support these expectations and expect every Year 12 student to have some work experience during the course of their first year.
In order to facilitate this, the Sixth Form Team regularly send information about work experience opportunities. We also encourage students to use Speakers for Schools – an excellent service that offers virtual work experience opportunities and one that has proved very useful over the past couple of years.
We allow students to include part-time jobs as part of the work experience requirement. Denbigh Sixth Form supports students having part time employment provided that it does not interfere with school work.
