Faculty Introduction
Expertise in a foreign language can be a valuable skill for the 21st Century. By providing students with the opportunity to perfect an additional language, we are helping to ensure that the UK remains globally competitive in the current and ever-changing landscape. Competent foreign language skills are also valued by both employers and universities.
At Denbigh School we offer teaching in French, Spanish and German and we also offer Italian and Turkish as options as part of the Sixth Form Enrichment Programme.
All our subjects follow an AQA A-Level specification
Extra-Curricular
The Languages Faculty run exchanges with schools & students in France & Germany as we have excellent links with schools in Caen and Schwerte. At A-Level we run a Work Experience programme for A-Level German and French students. Over the years this has been very successful enabling students to acquire work skills as well as being fully immersed in the language they are studying.
As well as the trips mentioned, we also offer a German, French and Spanish club during break time once a week and there are also after school clubs too.
Schemes of Learning
Each faculty has developed a two-year Scheme of Learning for each subject. The Schemes of Learning outline the curriculum journey that students will embark on during each academic year.
