Rich Mandal wins the Loftman Award
Rich Mandal, who has just completed Year 13, is this year’s winner of the prestigious School Community Award, the Loftman Award. Tony Loftman, whose family donated the Shield was there to present Rich with the Award in recognition of how he has participated in and benefited from the huge range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities the school offers.
Rich has only been at Denbigh for two years after joining our Sixth Form, but in this short time he has made a huge contribution to our school community.
His musical talent has meant that he has been a main stay for our Creative Arts Faculty, participating in many Creative Arts events and musical groups, and has always taken the time to support his fellow performers. He has performed at many whole school events including Open Evenings and Awards Evenings, showcasing his talent to parents and the wider community. It was fitting that at the end of his time in the Sixth Form he entertained his fellow Year 13s at their Leavers event, with a piece that he wrote and performed himself.
As well as his obvious talent and commitment to the Creative Arts, Rich has also been a valuable member of the Sixth Form Committee, contributing to the growth and success of Sixth Form Cultures Day.
Winning the Loftman Award is testament to the time he has given to assist and support others and represent the school values of being kind and engaged. We are delighted that we were able to recognise his huge contribution to the school through this award and we wish him well as he begins his Music undergraduate degree at Cambridge University.
