Christmas Bazaar raises record breaking £6,000
It was a record-breaking fundraising night at our Christmas Bazaar raising £6,000 for our chosen House Charity, Samuel’s Charity and the Denbigh Association. The Street was packed with students, families and members of the local community creating a wonderful atmosphere.
The Bazaar is our largest and most popular fund-raising event of the year, and it is led by the students themselves who, with the help of their tutors and House Champions, put hours into creating festive stalls with games and prizes for all. There were 46 stalls this year including ‘Candy Cane Crushers’, ‘Christmas Catapult’, ‘Christmas Maze’ and ‘There goes Santa Claus’ to name but a few. There were refreshments, a tombola and a raffle as well. We also had festive music to entertain us from our Choir, Orchestra, Sixth Form Band and our Heads of Year. Newton House won the prize for raising the most money on the night and the tutor group that took the most money was 1LP, which is Miss Pretorius’s Tutor Group.
Mr Burgess, Assistant Headteacher who led the event said: ‘Our students and staff created a wonderful atmosphere in the Street with creative and fun stalls for all our guests who came along to help us raise money for Samuel’s Charity and the Denbigh Association. Thank you to everyone who came on the night and to our students and staff for putting on such an amazing event. Thank you also to the many local organisations who donated wonderful prizes for our raffle, which helped boost our fundraising total.’
