Year 7 & 8 students compete with best young Mathematicians in the Country

The results are in for the 10 talented young Mathematicians who qualified for the prestigious follow-on rounds of UK Mathematics Trust’s (UKMT) Junior Maths Challenge.  Nine students competed in the first follow-on round, known as the ‘Kangaroo Round’, recording one Gold, one Silver and four Bronze medals.  A special mention to Joseph Johnson who was our Gold Medal winner.

Anunay Goel, from Year 8 qualified for the Junior Mathematical Olympiad which is the round above the Kangaroo Round, and he recorded a Merit.  Only 1,200 students from schools across the UK and overseas qualify for this Olympiad each year, so it was an amazing achievement by Anunay.

The UKMT Junior Challenge is open to Year 7 and 8 students from across the country, testing them on their mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and skill in using mathematical techniques.  We are very proud of our students who proved that they are amongst the best young mathematicians in this country.
