Year 8 work on Community Art Project for Shenley Church End

Year 8 students worked with artists Phil Duckworth and Ben Sadler from Juneau Projects who are producing a community art project for Shenley Church End, called ‘Portrait of a Pond’.  They are working in partnership with MK City Council & Shenley Church End Parish Council to produce a public piece of artwork inspired by the ecology of the pond at the corner of Shenley Road and Burchard Crescent.

Our young artists worked with Phil and Ben to produce clay pieces that represent life in and around the pond including newts, frogs and snails.  Their clay work will be cast in bronze as part of the project and will form part of a local sculpture.

Mr Jackson, Head of Art said: ‘Our students were superb in their use of media, materials and tools.  They took on advice from the professional artists, focusing on how the clay is used and how their final bronze piece might look and feel when on public display.  We are proud of the artwork our students produced and look forward to seeing them in their bronze form.’

Our young artists were:

Giancarlo Batincu, Ily Buhaniuc, Paul Israel Celestine, Emily Evans, Liyara Fernando, Alexa Gooch, Lucy Hilton, Dhwani Sooraj Nair, Emmie Stearn
