Year 8 Hip Hop Rapper, Aurva wins Talent Show
The Denbigh Talent Show was a huge success with 15 amazing acts including dancers, singers, comedians and musicians, enjoyed by an audience of family, friends and staff. The show was hosted expertly by Annabella Hartslief, Year 10 and Benjamin Chamberlain, Year 9. The Judging Panel were our esteemed House Champions: Miss Pickard, Mrs Rigby, Mr Campbell and Miss Herring. The judges had a very difficult decision to make as each student brought something unique and the level of talent on display was huge!
In the end, Aurva Iyer, Year 8 took first place rapping Aathma Raama: a fusion of devotion and hip-hop, integrating Sanskrit chants. Both the judges and audience were stunned by his articulation, confidence and stage presence. Joining him on the podium in second place was Chimdalu Anozie from Year 11 who played the Piano beautifully. In third place was the Sixth Form Band of Mark Davey-Spence, Ella Chrispin, Lap Yeung Tong, Stephen Maafo, Philip Mensah and Daniel Nikulchenko.
Mrs Clegg, our Drama Teacher said ‘We are so proud of each and every student who performed not only because of their talent, but because of the respect and kindness they showed one another; we can’t wait for the next one! Thank you to my colleagues in the Creative Arts Team for putting this show on and to our talented cast who were drawn from Year 7 to Year 13.
