Jeevan focuses on energy efficiency in Duke of Edinburgh Award

Jeevan Jesani from Year 9 has been taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award ‘Energy Envoys’ Volunteering scheme as part of his Bronze Award.
The Scheme challenges students to pick an energy project which will help their local community use energy more wisely, save money and combat climate change. Jeevan carried out an energy audit of local company Dave’s Blinds to identify their current energy consumption and where savings could be made in terms of energy used and money spent.
Jeevan thoroughly enjoyed the process and said: ‘My Audit identified important lessons in energy conservation. Turning off unnecessary electronics, switching off lights, utilizing solar panels, and ensuring devices can enter standby mode can substantially reduce energy usage. By adopting these practices, we can all contribute to environmental preservation, as these electronic devices emit significant CO2 emissions that harm our planet’.
