Success at MK Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Competition

Year 8 and 9 students gained a fascinating insight into the workings of a Magistrates Court when they took part in the MK Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Competition. Competing against The Royal Latin School and Stantonbury, our students took on the roles of magistrates, solicitors, witnesses, ushers, and not forgetting the accused!

During the day our students took part in two mock criminal trials taking on both prosecution and defence roles. They had been practising in-school since October to ensure that they were prepared to take on any case and any court role. The students did not win through to the next round of the Competition, but they did themselves proud and really enjoyed the experience. They received some very positive comments from the judges and Aurva Iyer won the award for ‘Best Witness’ on the day.
Thank you to Mrs Donohue and Mr Lee who supported the students in the Competition.

The students who took part were:
Minha Aamer, Phoebe Annoh Wiafe, Abishana Arulnesan, Swarale Batageri, Isla Carling-Beggs, Ashmi Chaubey, Vishwathi Ilayaperumal, Aurva Iyer, Aditi Jain Bagrola, Shruthiha Nandha, Akarshana Senthil Ramesh, Sara Thawooth, Tashaundra Yartel-Kubin
