Unity in Diversity is message of Sixth Form Cultures Day

Our Sixth Form community came together to celebrate the cultural diversity which is such a strength of Denbigh School in our annual Cultures Day.  There was a wonderful atmosphere in-school with students wearing clothing and bringing in flags and food that represent their heritage.   The highlight of the day is always the Cultural Catwalk and Student Performance Assembly when students take to the stage to showcase their cultures with dance and music.  This year, there were 13 countries represented on the Catwalk and five groups performing, meaning that we represented nearly all of the continents around the globe!

We were joined by a special guest, Francesca Skelton, Deputy Lieutenant representing the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire.  Reflecting on the event Mrs Skelton said: ‘I was so impressed by the commitment and enthusiasm shown by the students, and by the vitality and vibrancy of their performances. What was so inspiring was the students’ collaborative spirit, mutual support and respect for all the cultures celebrated.  I applaud how Denbigh School is a model of positive cultural integration.’

Thank you to the Sixth Form Committee who organised the event superbly, to Mr Wilkie, Mr Gannaway, Mrs Patel and Mrs Conway who supported them and to all the students who took part, bringing the event to life.
