Denbigh hosts Net Zero Policy Talk as part of Sustainability Drive

As part of our ongoing Net Zero initiative to create a cleaner, greener and more sustainable school environment and to reach zero carbon by 2030 under the national Let’s Go Zero campaign, we welcomed senior Government advisers from Great British Energy – Nuclear and representatives from NERA Economic Consulting for a compelling talk on Net Zero public policy.

Students attending the event gained insight into how commercial thinking, mathematics, finance and economics shape Government policy and business decisions in the rapidly evolving Net Zero economy. Speakers outlined the role of the Civil Service and major consultancy firms such as NERA, explaining how they operate at the intersection of energy, regulation and public policy.

The session highlighted how experts use critical thinking and analytical tools to assess complex issues, including the impact of Government support for major industries on competition in global markets. Students also heard about the challenges professionals face when working in public policy, economics and finance, and were given an overview of the Government’s current Net Zero strategy.

The talk concluded with a forward‑looking discussion on the growing opportunities for young people entering the workforce, and how future careers may align with the expanding Net Zero sector.

We are very grateful for the speakers who came in for the talk:
