Students meet William the racehorse and talk equestrian careers
40 Year 7 to 9 students enjoyed meeting former racehorse Forth Bridge, aka William as part of National Racehorse Week. As well as getting hands on with this beautiful horse, the students talked about careers in the Equestrian industry with staff from Towcester Racecourse, including the roles played by veterinary nurses, jockeys, racing journalists and stable staff within the industry. It was a really enjoyable visit for both students and staff and it was safe to say that William made a big impression on us all and was a complete star!
Mr Steed, Headteacher said ‘We were delighted to host one of the community events organised by Great British Racing to mark National Racehorse Week. Our fantastic Careers Department are always on the lookout for innovative and exciting visits which will spark the imagination of our students and inspire them to plan for their future. The Equestrian industry is very strong in the UK and it was a fantastic opportunity for students to discover many interesting career paths available within the sector, as well as having the chance to meet the wonderful ‘William’!
