Life Behind Bars – A Trip to Shrewsbury Prison
Our Social Sciences Faculty took 45 Year 12 students to Shrewsbury Prison, one of the oldest penal institutions in the UK which was decommissioned in 2013 and now operates as an historical visitor attraction. The students showed great enthusiasm and engagement as they learnt about the history of the UK’s criminal justice system, the crimes of Britain’s most notorious criminals & how they processed an offender when entering the prison system. The students got to experience being inside the cells as part of a guided tour and were then free to roam the prison independently.

We were delighted with the positive feedback from the staff at Shrewsbury Prison, who commented on how engaged and well behaved our students were whilst in the facility.

Thank you to Mrs Patel, Miss Burlace & Mr Gannaway who accompanied the students on this informative trip.
